The map shows which countries are represented in the GNU Consortium. Addtionally, it shows countries involved only in the Extended Consortium (hatched). Cf. Project Organistion.
The pie chart shows which kinds of organisations participate in the GNU Consortium. The largest category are national environment agencies, each of these organisations represents several environmental topics, which is also true for the environment ministry participating in GNU. The other Consortium members are public organisations specialised on issues such as air quality, forest monitoring, geology, and land monitoring. Two SMEs participate in GNU, one seconds personnel to another Consortium member, the other SME supports the GNU-related work of another Consortium member. The Topic Centre for Land Use and Spatial Information (ETC LUSI) is a special case because it is a network in itself encompassing a range of users active in the land monitoring sector. Four scientific organisations support the work of GNU in that they provide specialist knowledge as to social sciences and as to remote sensing.
